Every place we cover — areas and attractions in Phuket, and island escapes reached from Phuket.
Beach towns and neighbourhoods — where to stay and stroll

Phuket's best-known beach town — a long sandy bay backed by dining, shopping and nightlife, and a convenient base for exploring the island.

Heritage streets of Sino-Portuguese shophouses, cafés, street art and local food in Phuket city — best explored on foot.

Phuket's main boating hub on the southeast coast — home of Chalong Pier, where most island-hopping, fishing and dive boats assemble, with the island's most venerated temple a few minutes inland.

Phuket's relaxed southern pair — Rawai's working beachfront of longtails and seafood terraces, and Nai Harn just next door, one of the island's loveliest swimming beaches.
Specific places to visit on the island itself

Phuket's largest and most revered Buddhist temple — an active place of worship known for its grand chedi and golden statues.

Phuket's southernmost headland — a clifftop panorama over the Andaman Sea and one of the island's favorite sunset viewpoints.

A canopy zipline park in the jungle hills above Chalong — guided platform-to-platform flight lines, sky bridges and lookout stops on a half-day ticket.

Phuket's classic roadside lookout on the hill road between Kata Noi and Karon — one sweeping arc of three beaches: Kata Noi, Kata and Karon.

The Great Buddha of Phuket — a 45-metre white marble statue on Nakkerd Hill between Chalong and Kata, visible across the island's south, with a wide panorama over both coasts. Free to visit; modest dress required.
Islands reached by boat on day trips from Phuket piers

A limestone archipelago in Krabi province, reached from Phuket by sea — famous for Maya Bay, snorkeling bays and dramatic cliffs.

A small Phuket-province island a short boat ride from the island's southeast coast — easy beaches, snorkeling and the Banana Beach cove.

The Racha (Raya) islands south of Phuket — Racha Yai's powder-white bays and clear shallows, diver-famous Racha Noi — the nearest proper blue-water escape from Chalong Pier.

Mu Ko Similan National Park — a string of granite islands northwest of Phuket with the region's clearest water and signature dive sites. Open only during the dry-season window; access is by tour boat from the mainland.
